Anne Hathaway says a chemistry test in the 2000s required her "to make out with other actors."

“I was told, ‘We have 10 guys coming today and you’re cast. Aren’t you excited to make out with all of them?’ ... I thought it sounded gross.” https://t.co/AiAkeejeZ3

Imo if you wanna do chemistry reading then have two actors read out the proposal scene from Pride and Prejudice. That would show true chemistry. No yucky kissing.

I think that's what Adam Driver did for the Kylo Ren audition

Oh so it's not a good indicator of chemistry then.

No, that's what Eddie Redmayne said he (Eddie) did.

With a competent casting team, this wouldn't be necessary.

When we do ad casting and kissing is required, we usually ask for real couples to apply so it’s easier for them. Regardless of how professional a set is, I have yet to witness a kissing/sex scene where it isn’t awkward and uncomfortable for the actors involved, and that’s the actual done deal with scripts and characters all set. I can’t even imagine asking someone to make out with a bunch of strangers just to pick one, I love my job but I hate how casting often involves putting actors in pretty dehumanizing situations.

This is why I couldnt be an A-list celeb because I would be calling out the casting director

That was so early in her career. She wasn’t considered A-list until after Brokeback Mountain/Devil Wears Prada time IMO. I’m sure she’d stand up to this BS now no prob
