The produce has been so bad lately. Why am I in Washington and unable to find an unbruised apple at the grocery store?

I haven't bought a bag of (organic!) apples where at least one didn't turn out to be completely bruised in MONTHS. For some reason I didn't realize it could be part of *gestures wildly at state of things*; I figured it was just my store. Hmm.

We import 99% of our groceries from the US and they are sold here for roughly double, often triple the price. So things are looking grim

Honestly, when it comes to free trade, we're long overdue for a revisal because there are so many things Canada simply DOES NOT benefit from trading with the US, and wood is a HUGE one. The Canadian govt literally killed the carpentry industry because the US doesn't have enough of things to trade with us that we'd need so our government got the brilliant idea to trade wood to the States for them to sell us back the furniture and whatever other wood/paper/pulp products made from OUR wood; it's so stupid.

Can't say I've actually met Galen Jr

but

have seen him from a few feet away.

I summer jobbed at their new (at the time) HQ in Brampton and he'd come and make rounds in the office, chatting with the managers and getting updates etc. Really helped his "friendly boss" image.

Sucks to see that he has the power to do a lot of good for the masses but is simply choosing not to.
