completely, I love my nicher movies but it’s nice to have some big event movies to go to. Now that the mcu has seemingly slowed down a bit it’s allowing like.. good (or at least more diverse) movies to take up more cultural space again. Who woulda guessed!

I rewatched Fury Road the other day and god, yeah, Charlize just feels and looks STRONG. Totally embodied. It helps with Furiosa because she can show worry, panic, even fear without losing any strength - in fact, displaying all those qualities only emboldens it. I haven’t seen ATJ exude the same thing in a role yet and I hope she can pull it off (personally I find her acting a bit one note but serviceable) but there is a part of me that feels like she’s going to have the convince the audience she’s strong throughout by relying on facial anger and ‘kicking ass’ as she says. Furiosa deserves more depth than that imo, but we’ll see!

Agreed. I really like her as an actress (I mean duh lol). She's very good at playing these smoky, demure, no-nonsense kind of roles but hasn't really broken out of that yet. Interest has definitely been piqued for this to see if she can pull it off (even if the trailers have left me feeling very 'meh' every time).

The Cineworld chain in UK is doing an action season and I have a ticket to see Fury Road on the big screen again (and Con Air!)

I hope Furiosa lives up to the series.
