I'm glad he's speaking up, and I hope there's a reckoning for the fashion industry one day. People think the insular nature of the industry is there to keep prices high and maintain exclusivity, and while that's part of it, it also exists to hide the depravity of the industry.

Celebrity models have some protection from it. It's awful for models from Eastern Europe and any African country. They pluck these children out of the most impoverished areas they can find and even refugee camps. Traffick them, pay them nothing, withhold passports, then send them back once they're too messed up to work.

I watched a really fucked up documentary like a decade ago called Girl Model that was all about a scout-former model herself-who would go to Siberia to recruit girls to work in east Asia. It was a real bummer.

I was just thinking the other day about how these industries (film, fashion, photography) were created to display art and they were ultimately turned into sex trafficking and/or money laundering.

We really just can't have nice things.
