I still shudder when I think about people like Terry Richardson and how he worked for nearly every major brand name, despite it being known he was a sexual predator. He even flaunted it, and no one cared for the longest time. Maybe it's a preconception people have about models and that they're beautiful so they must have it so easy in life without any hardships.

But yeah, the industry is terrible. A lot of these models are also very young, foreign and isolated so they're particularly vulnerable. There have been attempts to change/regulate (Cameron Russell and the Model Alliance) it but idk if they've gone anywhere as I haven't kept up with the news.

Wow that's a name I haven't seen in a long time

I hope he's in jail right now but something tells me he's still employed

When I was invested in the fashion industry for a hot second, he was the big name photographer and his "aesthetic" was so popular. I always hated it, and I think he finally started to see some consequences right when I stopped following fashion news? Idk, and I'm too afraid to look it up because I don't think I could handle the disappointment and disillusionment I'd feel if he were still working after everything.

They’ve had some wins.

Accomplishments listed here: https://www.modelalliance.org/anniversary

They’re currently trying to get the Fashion Workers Act S.2477C (Hoylman) / A.5631C (Reyes) passed in New York, which would greatly help regulate the industry. You can sign your support in the link below, and if you’re in NY, contact your reps to help get it passed.

Horrific and disappointing, but this is not a surprise. I'm glad he was able to remove himself from the industry. You'd think the ~glamor~ of the modeling industry would have been eradicated after all the shit that emerged from the 90s/00s but not so.

Hmm I wonder if it was Mario Testino? He’s gotten some accusations.

Makes sense that the model industry is ripe with it. In the arts, you’re almost at the mercy of someone else’s vision so a lot of these types see them as more props for better or worse.

Look at the accusations Alexander Wang has! I remember Florence from florence + the machine indirectly him exposed in an old interview:
At 1:47

He been accused of roofing or switching up people’s drinks.
