I hope she’s doing ok and found a new doctor. That was some BS.

I'm glad she's using her platform to talk about perimenopause because it's criminally under-discussed. I honestly didn't even really know about it until the last few years (I'm 36). The rest of this though is wild... She apparently claims to have "cured" her type 1 diabetes and now she thinks she's too healthy to go through peri? What does being "safe" have to do with anything?? I'm so confused.

Did she actually claim to be type 1? I remembering reading that there was conflicting reporting on whether she had 1 or 2. (And this quote would suggest type 2 - can't cure either but you can transition off insulin with that one.)

I couldn't find the exact quote from her, but I did find this old article that seems to strongly suggest she originally said she was diagnosed as type 1:

It definitely could be the case that she was originally misdiagnosed.

It is impossible that she was T1D. In T1D, your pancreas does not work. She would be dead.

Men are so terrified of vaginas that they’ve created a world where women’s health is blatantly ignored or brushed aside. I don’t know how many times I’ve been told that my symptoms were just my period. The fact that her doctor said “well, you have an STD” and brushed her off is so discouraging.

It is utterly ridiculous how much gets brushed off as "normal." Nope, debilitating pain isn't normal. Losing so much blood you're anemic isn't normal.

they're always either every symptom is our period or "well we just don't know enough about periods 🤷‍♀️" like which one is it
