I finished the Quiet on Set documentary and took a few days to process it. I reached out to Drake privately, but want to give my support for the ( Read more... )

My heart broke for Drakes dad. He did everything you're he could to try and protect Drake.

Not to be callous, but could he not have removed Drake from the situation fully? I haven’t seen the documentary yet, so maybe he tried idk

Brian Peck, the abuser, drove a wedge between Drake and his dad by telling Drake lies saying his dad was misappropriating his money etc etc. Drake then went to live with his mom who Brian also told these lies to. Essentially to try and keep a relationship with his son Drakes dad stepped back from being involved. This is how Brian weaseled his way to Drake.

possibly but he was being gaslit by all the other adults around him and then brian drove a huge wedge between drake and his father until finally drake asked him not to be his manager anymore.

Made this comment in the FFAF but I had issues with how the doc handled the victims of abuse, particularly the adult survivors:

[Spoiler (click to open)]The story of the mom whose daughter was sexually harassed by that pedophile... I had a lot of questions about the mother and by the end I wondered if she even got her daughter's permission to share those details and those photos. It seemed odd it was the mom telling the story and not the victim herself.

Drake Bell was full on given soft treatment. I get that getting him to talk on camera was a coup for the filmmakers but they barely talked about the fact that he was charged with inappropriate contact with a minor. If it wasn't for people on ONTD mentioning it I wouldn't have looked it up myself. It is way worse than it sounds and I read part of the victim's impact statement and he sexually assaulted her knowing full well how young she was. I get that he is also a victim but imo you can't just fully give a positive platform to someone who is also an abuser and censor out or downplay there own crimes.

I said something similar to your last point below. I also was really uncomfortable with the clip they showed of Leo Dicaprio. It was obviously no where near as much footage as Ariana's but it was in regards to Brian Peck treating him the same way that he treated Drake. And I just feel like there's maybe a really unethical implication (whether true or not) in that for this doc to air without Leo's permission or involvement.

to your first point, it felt like the language being used was purposeful. at first i assumed that she had died, which is why the mom was speaking, but then i realised it's probably because she went NC with her mother.

there are some uncomfortable comments on tiktok trying to uncover who she is, since she's only referred to by her first name. those who don't think it's a pseudonym are like 'it has to be brandi carlile, there's no mention of her parents on wikipedia' as if she's the only famous person named brandi.

im still in middle of watching ep 2 but i assume you're talking about brandi's mom? i felt uncomfy watching because it felt like she encouraged her daughter into it because she was resentful that her own mother prevented her from entering entertainment business.

i didnt have cable growing up so i never watched these shows im just so shocked at these clips yeah i wonder if they had asked for permission from these actor/actresses that are not involved in this making.

The way the public had the immediate impulse to demonize Josh really pisses me off. People are pulling shit out of thin air, saying the reason Josh didn't invite Drake to his wedding was because of this.

Lest not forget that while Drake was a victim, he's also a predator. Also we have no idea what Josh's Nickelodeon experience was. I understand having empathy, but every time I see a TikTok going after Josh I'm like, "have we learned nothing?"

Ugh Internet fan culture is terrible. Josh has made it clear in the past that he and Drake are not friends.

I find it really disturbing that so many people on tiktok are spreading around the rumor that Dan raped Amanda and forced her to get an abortion at 13, and basing it on a tweet from the PersianLa27 twitter which is iffy on whether it was actually Amanda or not. There is evidence that it was not, and just someone trying to scam people out of money. I feel like it's really irresponsible to spread that rumor when Amanda has said nothing about it while sober and lucid.

Whatever Amanda went through, it's her story to tell.

I remember that it was so hectic. I just posted a comment wondering if that was all true. I remember her posting "evidence" at the time but it was such a crazy time with those tweets.

I do remember there was some evidence it was her posting, but some that it wasn't. Honestly, I take anything posted on that twitter with a grain of salt just because there's no definitive answer whether it was her or not.

I haven’t watched the documentary yet but it’s honestly wild to see all this in the headlines and being taken seriously. It’s like the R. Kelly situation where it was like this open secret that everyone knew about on some level for decades before something actually was done about it. I remember being a kid when all these shows were on the air and reading online about how fucking gross Dan is. We all been knew.
