I feel like he was forced to comment on this by people demanding he comment. No one should be forced into making a comment on their shitty childhood, no one has any idea what happened to this person.

I am just starting the doco. I'm a survivor so it's really hard, but I am ALSO a youth/social worker, so I feel like this is important stuff to watch even when it's hard.

Right! I was disgusted by Sunny on the view today spewing nonsense about now that they are adults it’s their obligation to speak out. Like who the fuck do you think you are and what therapist did you never go to…

This. No one is obligated to speak about the shit they went through. People act so entitled to statements these days, its honestly gross.

An apology for a shitty thing, okay I get where you're coming from asking for it. This? Fuck off.

Social media was a mistake.

Different subject but similarly I remember when Chadwick Boseman died and people were being rude to costars who didn't post right away.

Elizabeth Olsen just full on deleted her social media because she was getting harassed so badly.

Same thing with the Friends cast taking a beat before making a joint statement on Matthew Perry's passing.

Certain people are so perpetually online they act like nothing is real unless someone makes a post on it.

if Hollywood producers are totally insistent on using AI instead of actors, why not start with children? They don't need jobs, and the system has forever been exploitative of them.

Honestly down with just cgi children. Not personally, just to not have child actors hahha

seriously. the stories that come out of it are awful, and no kid should have to deal with being the breadwinner for their family. it's just fucked up.

because in capitalism, the point of AI is to further exploitation not eliminate it

I saw that Drake had to come out earlier in the week to tell people that Josh did reach out to him because people were harassing Josh over his silence :/

I saw this earlier, Brian Peck was a gross persistent fuck. He kept trying to this guy when he was a kid alone so many times but luckily his dad was not falling for anything and protected his son:

[THREAD]: Michael Bower from Nickelodeons Salute Your Shorts speaks out on his experience from a Nickelodeon executive in the 90s who invited him to a hotel and Brian Peck wanting him to be naked in a film & trying to watch him undress when he was a teen. ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/bqeXyhyaAz

Kudos to some of these dads, I swear. Drake's dad - at least from what I've read - TRIED. And that's more than most. Bower's dad - hell yes. Those are the types of parents kids need. The so-called parents who allowed that shit and/or encouraged it should be in jail just as much as the predators

Drakes dad straight up told the mom to not allow Drake to be alone with him. She ignored everything she said.

Nice to hear about a parent successfully protecting their child.

The thing that shocked me was finding out he tried to help her emancipate herself from her parents which seems like an odd thing for an adult co-worker to get involved in.

We don't know the full story because none of the participants spoke but it seems like there was not abuse (from the parents) involved in the decision so Dan completely overstepped.

The next step would 100% be to get custody of her(like ted nugent) until she turned 18 or just wait it out and start dating her as soon as the clock hits. Im glad it didnt happen but theres no telling what did. Fuck him. I hope she is one day emotionally and mentally able to heal. I know shes still going through it.

Slightly o/t, but this is why Chris Columbus (director of Home Alone, Mrs Doubtfire and the first 2 HP films) has my respect. He fought WB over their attempts to exploit Emma, Dan and Rupert and told them if their parents weren’t allowed on set, no movies. He made sure all the parents, esp Dan’s, knew that the kids had a choice and if the kids were done, so was he. Apparently they tried to pressure him and he said he’d walk, bring the cast and crew, and make sure everyone knew what WB was playing at. WB backed down.

I remember someone here saying his experience with Macaulay Culkin’s dad on Home Alone informed him on parents.

He liked Macaulay and had no problems with him but he didn’t like how his dad Kit treated him on set so going into HP, he set some ground rules and really vetted the parents. I think they mentioned he wouldn’t pick kids that had obvious stage parents and wouldn’t put their best interests first.

That may have been me re: Kit.

It’s mentioned at the HP set tour how quick Chris caught on to parents etc, and how protective he was of all the kids, especially the trio. He apparently had frequent chats with them to prepare them and their parents for what potentially (and did) come over the next decade, set up financial guidance, had counsellors available etc.
