I never smoked or drank when I was a young child and I ate pretty healthily (much more so than my friends) and I had CRAZY bad anxiety. I'm sure caffeine, alcohol or nicotine don't help, but I think some of us are just neurologically programmed a certain way :/

I’m sorry. Im sure it wasn’t easy. I’m the same way. I didn’t realize I was dealing with panic attacks and anxiety growing up and basically started self medicating with alcohol not realizing what the issue was. Thankfully a college counselor told me what was up. Still an alcoholic but one day at a time 🙃

I know what you mean... when I was a kid I had no idea my painful shyness was actually acute social anxiety, which while having improved massively over the years is still something I struggle with in certain environments. There's so much more awareness and knowledge now!

Good luck on your recovery ❤️

I cut down on caffeine cos I boycott Diet Coke due to Gaza and I hoped it would help me sleep better but it doesn't. I'm on the fence if it's helped with my anxiety.

I need to go back to exercising daily now the weather is better. I saw someone say if you do 10,000 steps a day you tend to sleep better, but I struggle with it because my job is very sedentary.

I've started getting up early to get my steps in. I go to the gym and walk on a treadmill for 45 mins at a brisk speed and get around 5.8k steps.

It feels rotten while I'm doing it but so much better the rest of the day.

You don't have to go straight to 10k, just try to add mindful movement throughout your day like aim for 4k steps and then 6k. When I wfh I barely move so I have to walk during lunch or something. Or find a used walking pad online and walk slowly to a podcast

I want to buy a walking pad but I don't have a lot of space so storing it is a bit of an issue. I also don't want to spend too much money. My friend got one recently and I told her to let me know how she gets on with it.

That's all well and good but I always get very uncomfortable when rich people with access to nutritionists, trainers and personal chefs talk about how lifestyle changes conquered their mental health issues. Anything that can prevent people from getting the medical attention they need, especially in the area of mental health, is harmful.

Yeah, and Gisele's hippy mindfulness bullshit is completely self-serving. You know what also do wonders for mental health? Having access to basic health care and not having to worry about being unable to pay basic housing & food bills, things her coup supporting ass has never given a fuck about. She can absolutely miss me with any of her mundane advice.

i mean like yeah if i eat like i feel like shit but not everyone's anxiety & depression are going to be cured by changing your diet or exercising bc every person is different. great that it works for her but also like she's a billionaire of course she's able to "cure" her panic attacks & depression with diet & exercise bc she has the money to see the top ppl who can help her mental health whereas most regular folks don't have that.

...her naturopath told her to stop taking stimulants, the lovely vasodialation/contraction combo and sleep, and its being framed like that? lol journalism is really in the gutter

At the source she never says she 'cured' her panic attacks through these changes, she just states what helped her. She also mentions that she began practicing yoga, meditation, and breath work and that it was a long journey for her to feel better. The headline is trash.

right and like of course if she only started experiencing these things when her lifestyle changed then a lifestyle change would help her once she realized that was the cause
