I cut down on caffeine cos I boycott Diet Coke due to Gaza and I hoped it would help me sleep better but it doesn't. I'm on the fence if it's helped with my anxiety.

I need to go back to exercising daily now the weather is better. I saw someone say if you do 10,000 steps a day you tend to sleep better, but I struggle with it because my job is very sedentary.

I've started getting up early to get my steps in. I go to the gym and walk on a treadmill for 45 mins at a brisk speed and get around 5.8k steps.

It feels rotten while I'm doing it but so much better the rest of the day.

You don't have to go straight to 10k, just try to add mindful movement throughout your day like aim for 4k steps and then 6k. When I wfh I barely move so I have to walk during lunch or something. Or find a used walking pad online and walk slowly to a podcast

I want to buy a walking pad but I don't have a lot of space so storing it is a bit of an issue. I also don't want to spend too much money. My friend got one recently and I told her to let me know how she gets on with it.

I store mine under my couch and mine couch is pretty low to the ground. in all honesty I don't use it as much as I thought I would bc after I bought it, my work forced us back into the office 3 days a week. so most of the time i just want to sit in silence when I'm finally working at home. i def. used it this winter when it was too cold to go outside for a break

I have one of those recliner sofas that doesn't have space underneath because of the mechanism.

I honestly want it because some days when I'm watching things I think 'I could be on a treadmill watching this'. I have a stationary bike that folds, but honestly sitting on that for too long is uncomfortable so I only do about 30 mins on that. I think I could walk for longer.

Try going outside. If you're close to a nice place like a park or some beautiful blocks. When I lived in a city my neighbourhood wasn't pretty but I'd take the subway for just two stations and I would just walk there, looking at the beautiful buildings. It's always better to go outside, if you can. Plus is free.

Can you try getting a moving desk? The one that can go up and down so you can work some time standing and then sitting again?
It can change your life!

I don't think my office could do it and at home I am the attic so I have slanted walls and my computer barely fits under the slope I have it in. If I stood I would hit my head!

I started walking for better sleep and I got the benefits even at like 4-6k a day, especially if you're starting from zero. I highly recommend at first just setting a timer while you work and taking a short stroll around the house or going outside briefly while it's nice. Or instead of sitting at your desk with like a huge waterbottle and several drinks and snacks, just get what you need in the moment so you have to walk back to kitchen every time you want more (unless you'll forget to eat or drink if you don't have them on hand). You don't have to do all the steps at once, and doing little 15 minute increments can really improve the work day - also save your lower back. But if the weather is nice and you have time for a long walk in nature there's really nothing nicer for calming your brain and body.

Good to know.

Honestly my issue is consistency, some days I move around, some days I don't. I need to keep it up.

I had to built it into my lifestyle. I started walking to work (I see you work from home though), back and forth to the work kitchen (I have only a small water bottle), to the grocery store, to several nearby restaurants instead of ordering delivery, after dinner to help digestion/prevent reflux, and any time I want to listen to an audiobook. So basically all the things I need or want to do are attached to walking (which I LOVE doing but also some days momentum is not on our sides). I get 10k steps a day now and I sleep terribly the nights I don't.

I do work in an office a few days a week but it's a 30 minute drive, so it's not something I can walk. It's also on an industrial estate so there's not anywhere to 'walk' around.

I used to walk to the (tiny) sandwich shop every day but then I started making food to save money so I stopped doing that even.

Are there any little office gardens or water features worth walking to? There's a retention pond with turtles a short walk from my lab so I just go out to turtle watch whenever I need a break. Lots of shorter trips to the water fountain, and the furthest printer, or to other offices in lieu of an email, keep me from going crazy on heavy computer days lol.

my job is a hybrid one so what i do is when I have to go to the office, I walk to it (I live a 30 minutes walk/10 minutes ride from my office, i used to take the bus but i'd always arrive 15-20 minutes too early. So one day I tried walking and realized that I can arrive in time by walking and without having to change my morning alarm. I now take the bus only if it's bed weather - or when it will be too hot in the summer) + I go for a walk during my lunch break.

meanwhile when I work at home, I usually listen to podcasts with episodes of around 1 hr, so every time I finish an episode, I get on the stepper and do 100 steps. It's not like walking, but it helps me stretch a bit, at least!
