I think what's surprising are the usual suspects not on the list, like Noah Schnapp, Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer. Though, I think Amy is holding back because of her relative senator, Chuck Schumer. Otherwise, I think she would have signed it.

it took a few months for it to pay off but this is the funniest thing amy schumer ever said pic.twitter.com/54j5nbnwmc

The founder of @TheCherryPicks signed the open letter condemning Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar speech. I have emailed to have my account and reviews removed from the platform immediately. https://t.co/p1K95huGWp pic.twitter.com/VtjBiwH8J1

I'm surprised that Sasha Baron Cohen isn't there. Jamie Lee Curtis is a big absentee too.

I guess these celebrities got whacked so badly that their PR teams told them to stfu and to keep it for the group chats.

They just want to avoid more backlash. Privately, they support it 100%.

Is Debra Oppressing's full time job to put her name on this shit at the moment.

I hope Glazer has great support around him because the way this shit has been used against him is vile.

What else does she have on her plate? Not an acting or producing job.

"If Israel had existed in the 1930s and 40s, Auschwitz would not have happened."

Just the forced displacement and genocide of Palestinian people.

Glazer's speech was brilliant and the idea that Jewish people should think as a monolith is inherently antisemitic and dehumanising. I know Glazer has already built his career, but I hope this doesn't affect future opportunities for him. His voice is important and progressive.

I think someone said something in reply like 'so you're admitting "Israel" didn't exist back then?'

The Zone of Interest was one of the best and most important films I've ever seen.

it just...blows my mind, sickens me to my core, horrifies me that fellow Jews can't see the parallels between the film and what's happening now in Gaza.

the cult of Zionism is one of the scariest I've ever seen

I think the scariest thing is how unwilling they are to admit that the IOF the ones killing people. And it's being echoed by the Biden administration that 'Hamas is killing these people'.

Like, no they're fucking not. I saw a quote prior to 7th October of an "Israeli" official saying something like 'we will never forgive the Palestinians for what they force us to do to them' and I almost threw my computer out the window.

yup this was never about Hamas. this was their excuse to decimate Gaza and rebuild it as "their" territory. it's sick beyond belief.

“we will never forgive the Palestinians for what they force us to do to them” is like abuser rhetoric 101. You hear this exact same thing coming out of abusive men's mouths after they beat up their partners: “look what you made me do!”

"If Israel had existed in the 1930s and 40s, Auschwitz would not have happened."

Then perhaps the world should confront its antisemitism and work to lessen and eventually erase it, NOT slaughter Palestinians for their land and access to resourcesbecause Hamas.

But by all means, continue outing yourselves as if BDS isn’t a thing, I and many others are fine with making absolutely sure we don’t support y’all ever again!

Right? Rooting out societal Antisemitism throughout Europe (and not only Germany) and making it a safe place for its Jewish survivors to remain and for future generations to never suffer the same genocide is what ought to have happened. Not perpetuating another ethnic cleansing to keep them out of sight and out of mind.

Israel’s founding has its roots in antisemitism and the reason so many non-Jewish people claim to be Zionist is also a product of antisemitism.

Western nations didn’t want Jewish refugees post-WWII and lunatic Christian’s want them to *die* so the rapture can happen.
It’s incredible how the entire WWII narrative has mutated in these countries into some heroic tale of saving a people from genocide. It ignores the fact that antisemitism was already prevalent everywhere

EXACTLY.

Not to mention the founding father of Zionism was racist and so gross about Arabs, I’ve always personally found the coinage of the term ‘Mizrahim’ to be racist too (I don’t claim to be an expert on the history of Zionism at all though)
