"Feelings are indicators, they're not facts. Parents teaching their kids about safe spaces, and 'I feel uncomfortable'... It's, like, You know what? The world is not a safe space. You have to find the comfort. It's mostly uncomfortable."

I guess I get what Ru's going for. But it's kinda misguided. Yeah the world is uncomfortable, being able to talk about that discomfort and expressing yourself emotionally doesn't mean that you're living on eggshells and without acknowledging those hardships. I feel like the elder gen gets trapped into this mindset of "buck up kid, you'll deal with it like the rest of us" and like.... people don't *have* to suffer the way you did to understand the world???

Yeah, idg this mindset. The world is tough, so everyone including your parents needs to be tough on you so you can spend the rest of your life in fight or flight? Ugh.

They don't realize they should be the comfort they want the youth to seek out in the world.

this was the sweetest thing I’ve ever read omg.

but it’s so true, trash parents running their kids out of the house and into the arms of predators. It’s disgusting.

I love that the rich are straight up telling us “good fucking luck I’ll be in my mansion while you all fight it out”

Truly dystopian

The world is not a safe space. You have to find the comfort. It's mostly uncomfortable.

I see what you’re asking but he’s saying the world is not a safe place, hence why we create safe spaces.

whether you like him as a person or not, you cant denied drag culture especially performers live have changed for much better because of him. most of the older performers (pre social media) were struggling, now they’re thriving. that’s why as messy as ru is, many are grateful to him.

honestly while i dont agreed with some of his view, i have mad respect for him for all that he done. also we tend to criticized minority and especially black pp more when they different view or do something “messy” and willingly overlook when it’s our caucasian counterpart
