"Feelings are indicators, they're not facts. Parents teaching their kids about safe spaces, and 'I feel uncomfortable'... It's, like, You know what? The world is not a safe space. You have to find the comfort. It's mostly uncomfortable."
I guess I get what Ru's going for. But it's kinda misguided. Yeah the world is uncomfortable, being able to talk about that discomfort and expressing yourself emotionally doesn't mean that you're living on eggshells and without acknowledging those hardships. I feel like the elder gen gets trapped into this mindset of "buck up kid, you'll deal with it like the rest of us" and like.... people don't *have* to suffer the way you did to understand the world???
Yeah, idg this mindset. The world is tough, so everyone including your parents needs to be tough on you so you can spend the rest of your life in fight or flight? Ugh.
They act like suffering is an inevitability and not a summation of man made choices. Like, anything outside of nature that we create can be abolished or changed and that includes the way we let people suffer needlessly.

but it’s so true, trash parents running their kids out of the house and into the arms of predators. It’s disgusting.
