Kali Reis and Issa López respond to Nic Pizzolatto's criticism of True Detective season 4

Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of True Detective, has made it clear that he is not a fan of season 4 (which is the first season he was not involved with). When Night Country premiered, Pizzolatto changed his Instagram bio to read “True Detective S1-3 (NOT Night Country).” He has also been reposting negative comments like this about the show:

Even the first season wasn’t that good. I have no idea why he thinks he did anything.

I’m not gonna lie, I loved the first season, but I think it’s the two leads that make it seem better than it is. If you had two less charismatic actors in those roles and you sat there and really thought about the plot, and all the yellow king gobbledygook he threw in there to seem deep and literary, it’s kind of a mess. And no different from any other crime drama that boils down to “men will exploit anyone weaker for their own depraved wants”.

I’m surprised by the negative comments. I haven’t seen the other seasons so I can’t comment on that or compare with S4, but I really enjoyed the new one and especially the finale with the reveal 🤷‍♀️

I think that's the general consensus? But the original show creator of s1-3 is finding anything negative people are saying and then reposting it to his accounts like a huge crybaby trying to prove some kind of point

I mean if you look hard enough, you can find negative reviews for anything

Also just googled this guy and he looks like a manbaby so his reaction seems on par with his dumb face

I love Issa’s work and she talks about her process and her films beautifully. She puts her whole heart into work.

Missed this season because of the star, but I do want Issa and her talent to SHINE.
