Warner Bros. film chiefs are said to be less pumped about Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17,” which was just moved to January 2025. The film, starring Robert Pattinson, cost $150 million.

A Warner rep insists: “There is, of course, enthusiasm for it.”https://t.co/vg8rYmv1y5 pic.twitter.com/Tb1TuLYjaV

Allegedly, David Zaslav has laid down a mandate to spare no expense in
attracting top filmmakers. Included in their upcoming slates are new
movies from Paul Thomas Anderson (which has a $115 dollar budget) and
Ryan Coogler.

did they buy the Coogler / Jordan vampire movie?

they did, though the article doesn't say for how much or what the budget is. the only contract details in there say WB said no when coogler and mbj asked for 25% of first dollar gross to split and 2 guaranteed theatrical releases for future movies, but WB did agree to give coogler the rights to the movie back after 25 years.

"They’re shopping for Quentin or Cruise with the notion they can use it as a shiny object that is going to be additive when Zaslav sells the company."

Of course he only views the actual thing his company is supposed to produce as a bargaining chip. Entertainment and content has only been a means of dodging taxes, inflating value, and probably money laundering from the start with him. I truly hate this man.

They're fucking high for giving PTA $115 million dollar budget. His movies NEVER make money.

Looking forward to Tom Cruise going back to acting tho. Bored of him being in action movies. 90s Tom is far more interesting than 00s Tom.

I hope Tarantino takes his movie to Sony.

Lol I like his films but I did err at that. Paul's films are pretty unlucky at the box office.

Only Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood did well at the box office :S.

There will be blood would've been a profit...but he insisted on them using filmprints instead of DCPs:

The film went on to make $40.2 million in North America and $35.9 million in the rest of the world, with a worldwide total of $76.1 million, well above its $25 million budget; however, the prints and advertising cost for the film's United States release cost about $40 million.

So when everything was said and done they spent 65mil to get 76mil...that's not even breaking even...

Come on, Paul.

What are film prints and DCPs?

Can't imagine that they'd be moving Mickey 17 to that date if they had any confidence in it. This year's release slate is not exactly overflowing after the strikes last year. And okay, maybe IMAX is booked up, but to delay the film a whole year for that seems over the top. I loved Parasite, but that doesn't mean every BJH movie is gonna be a smash.

LOL at Joker 2's budget... like, there is no way it needed over double the budget of the first one, even with Gaga.

Honestly shocked by the PTA film budget, considering his last film's budget was like $40 million, and that was already high for him.

I cannot wait to never hear David Zaslav's name again, truly.

Joaquin Phoenix is getting $20 and Gaga is getting $12 so what on earth is the rest of that money gone towards. Those salaries aren’t unusually high if they don’t really have a first dollar gross back end deal.

we've seen a few of the sets and they are massive, like setting an entire giant building on fire... but, like, still?? where is that money going lmao

"Tom Cruise, who recently signed a deal with Warner Bros, has discussed an Edge of Tomorrow sequel with the studio. However Cruise reportedly also wants to return to working with auteur directors, rather than solely making action flicks."

Emily Blunt's prayer have been answered!! LOL she's been WANTING this movie!! She always talks about what a great experience it was. And truthfully it was a pretty good movie.
