Shrugs. In this economy? Just when the majority of Best Buy companies are permanently shutting down the physical media sales. Redbox or 5 dollars bins are no longer a thing now unless you see them at dollar tree, 99 cents stores or gas stations etc. I think we are actually irl far behind technologically wise bc we don’t have sufficient storage space for literally everything in one place. Everything deletes off that way. What we have right now is just stretching us out over the mid-2020s. Imagine 5 years after 2025, it’d barely make a scratch progressive wise unless we get this shit together. So this made me think of the 80s bc that’s probably where we are with today’s generation at this point rn.

Walmart brought back their giant bins of cheap DVDs! I haven't seen them in years.

I just need Channel 4 to release Derry Girls on DVD (with Like a Prayer, not the Netflix substitution) and for Nikolodean to release the Pete and Pete season 3 DVDs (another one where there were music rights issues).

I wonder if they'll use this as justification to drive up dvd/blueray prices since they're an extra middleman to pay now.

It's really sad because at the end of the day, it's all plastic but cloud storage/streaming are dependent on keeping those servers running 24/7, which makes me wonder how big of a difference the environmental impact is.

Gimme.
I just bought The Lion King on DVD at an estate sale for 50 cents. Am I running out of room on my shelves for my DVDs? Maybe. I don't care.

I hope this also means they'll actually include some special features because those have been severely lacking lately.

Nothing will top the Lord of the Rings DVDs though. Literally days of special features.
