I too was a Pokemon Blue girlie and Squirtle was my starter. Kids today have it so easy because now the games automatically split the XP amongst your party, before I knew about the MIssingno glitch I had to work so hard to level up my Blastoise before we faced the Elite Four, and I beat them while my Gameboy battery was dying which made the credits v stressful

Anyway I still love Pokemon but I still haven't made much progress in Pearl, oop

Wow back to back Pokemon posts on ONTD? I still have Pokemon Red along with my gameboy pocket, but I've gotten really lazy with playing each new iteration. Nowadays I'm just playing Pokemon Sleep which is super chill lol.

Never had a GB but I do have fond memories of fighting with my cousin over hers ahahahha. I always played Red with my babb Charmander as starter, which I know is basically Hard Mode considering the first gym is rock, but how could I not!!! Eventually I discovered emulators.

Hope Time walked back those statements from 1998

I'm excited to see the accurate Sugimori artwork!! I wonder if TIME reached out to pokemon archivists who uncovered this or they got the OG artwork directly from the pokemon company

this was such a fascinating discourse on nostalgia on twitter

The iconic Gen 1 Pokemon washed out look was because their scanners sucked ass???!?!? Now it's like someone sealed up the Liberty Bell's crack https://t.co/bJtXOpNmQA pic.twitter.com/7TeKqu2MSM
