Surprised how many people here liked it.
I thought the whole season was a terribly written mess, and the finale was no exception.

The worst season yet imo and that is saying a lot lol

Yeah I think I'm done with True Detective at this point. S1 was the only season that was any good and I keep thinking "it's an anthology series, I'll give this season a chance" and I'm disappointed every time.

ontd hated every single episode except the pilot and now everything is amazeballs?

honestly it was just a big bunch of nothing. grand ideas that went nowhere and a rushed resolution that had to be explained in detailed flashbacks because it would have made no sense otherwise. i'm personally holding all those journalists who gave it a 100% certified fresh on RT responsible for having wasted 7 accumulative hours of my life.

I kinda loved this season? The writing was a bit clunky and i wish the soundtrack was more inspired but I'm ok with the unexplained plot points like the tongue and the corpcicle logistics. Foster was solid and Keli really delivered this last episode, i thought her line delivery in the first episodes was not great but her presence and charisma won me i hope her career follows the same trajectory as Batista

and now I need recommendations of similar series, that lean more on the supernatural it doesn't have to be arctic horror

I haven't watched it yet but the terror is next on my list, similar arctic/supernatural vibe I think

Season 1 of The Terror is literally one million times better, highly recommend it

I'm currently watchin twin peaks as a similar sort of show, as well as evil (which is explicitly supernatural)

haven't watched the episode yet but i'm looking forward to it! definitely going to then re-watch all the episodes back-to-back. i feel like this season would have benefitted having more episodes so that the story and characters could be teased out more.

i've also been seeing on SM how this season is boring or the writing is bad, but i would rather have more of these "mediocre" or "bad" shows with native representation that's also speculative (the speculative part is just personal preference lol). it's not fair for us to constantly hold bipoc-led shows to a standard of excellence that white male-led shows don't have to adhere to. i'm basically rambling rn, but i just feel very strongly about this! also i really enjoyed jodie foster and kali reis' chemistry. would love to see kali in more things.

Nah I get what you mean. The main subreddit for this show is being so fucking insufferable about this season that I just had to support it, even if it had plot holes. Still enjoyed it though.

i think to show he blew the money they'd paid him on the russian bride, and was now desperate for more coin, bitter/greedy for power, and therefore easy to further corrupt.
