I definitely want to see Uncle Vanya and Mary Jane, maybe a few others. Btw I don't hate musicals but they've really pushed out everything else from the stage for a while and I need a bit of a break. It's great to see some original stories that aren't super showy make it to Broadway.
Forgot to add theater I've seen lately: Sleep No More for the second time (even better than the first), La Boheme finally (incredible, as expected), a really great version of Dracula that was a mix of Shakespearean actors and circus artists, and a little longer ago some cool shows at Fringe Fest (including Upline and Lo Siento Mi Espanol Es Tremndo Mal) and Tithonia: A Lesbian Space Opera which were all a combination of touching and hilarious. I've got tickets to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Loves Labors Lost coming up as well.

TBH I’m kinda meh on the upcoming spring musicals; I’m actually more excited about the plays, which says a lot. I usually do one trip to NY a year to visit family and see shows but I may skip this year.
Recently, I saw The Wiz on tour, which had great performances and I enjoyed some of the book changes, but I didn’t like the direction and hated the set design. I have a bunch of tickets already booked for upcoming shows but I’m most looking forward to seeing Raúl Esparza return to musicals.

If that's the case, do you know of any other shows going on in the area that I should check out while I'm there?

Of what's coming to Broadway, I'm probably most interested in Lempicka, Stereophonic, Tommy, Patriots, and Uncle Vanya. I like the song from The Outsiders, though! And I may end up seeing The Great Gatsby mostly because they are the only show doing Thursday matinees. very smart. I'd see everything I could if I was local, but as it stands. I'll probably be able to hit around 1/3 of them.
I'm also really interested in all the Off-Broadway stuff I listed, especially Three Houses (from Dave Malloy!!) and The Lonely Few, which I saw three times in LA and loved.
Last theater I saw was in NYC over the holidays - All the Devils are Here, Purlie Victorious, ( ... )

I saw The Great Gatsby and found it to be a bland adaptation and a ripoff of Baz Luhrmann’s film aesthetics. It might be worth it if you are a big Jeremy Jordan or Eva Noblezada fan though (even though I thought they were both miscast, it didn’t stop the girl next to me from crying throughout the show!)

I'd say the same, though I must confess I was not already familiar with the source material so I was not comparing it to anything. One of the weirder shows I've seen, but that's not a bad thing. Really great cast - I loved Rachel Bay Jones and David Hyde Pierce in particular.
I saw people wanting it to transfer to Broadway, and I just don't know how that would make sense economically, but I am glad they are doing a cast album. I assume it'll have to be pretty dialogue heavy?
And lol, I have only heard bad things about Gatsby so I won't overpay to see it or anything, but I do think Eva's voice is incredible.
