I liked the first one, but I don't get why they want these to be more drama than comedy. They have me worried that they're going to kill off one of the OGs. Also, I wish the return of Slimer meant the return of Ecto Cooler.

This one at least looks funnier. I guess they wanted to properly deal with the loss of Spengler/Harold Ramis in the previous one.

Still judging myself for being way into the first trailer before I realized what it was. I love end-of-the-world disaster type shit!

ive never seen og ghostbusters just the recent reboot with the snl gals (dont @ me with your wrong opinion on that enjoyable movie) - but was the one from the 80s as ~epic/dramatic~ as this trailer implies...

Sort of. Any drama in it was played with a lighter touch, but they definitely leaned into the goofy bits a bit more, especailly in the second movie.

Afterlife was also fairly silly, which was not adequately conveyed by its trailer. I expect a lot of silliness here among the EPIC WORLD DESTRUCTION.

For the 80s it was. But yes I think so when I was a kid watching it it was epic and dramatic and scary. It was the second one that got silly and more fun.

It was a really deft mix of funny and actual spooky stuff. But like, even the second sequel wasn't that good. Sometimes a good movie can just stay a good movie, it doesn't need to be an epic Thing that rolls on and on throughout the decades until it takes on ghostlike qualities itself.
