Social media is the devil and kids (especially) should never be exposed to it.

Aren't her kids still under 10 years old? I can understand her position right now, though you know those kids will be on some form of social media sooner or later once they hit the teen years.

River turns 10 this year and Remy will turn 8. Crazy how time flies!

mte, remember when the Obama girls weren't supposed to have social media ? One of their teenage pictures from a private account (taken with a guy) ended up leaked.

It must be so hard to navigate. A friend of mine, her son is 13, and he’s been sucked into the online manosphere and just parrots back all the ridiculous talking points

thank god my 13 y/o niece isn't growing up super fast. her tiktok likes are filled with nothing but fnaf and sonic edits. my sister does have to keep her from looking into fanart though. because of nsfw and all that. luckily, she's been shielded so far.

I would simply stop feeding any child parroting misogyny at me.

You are probably joking, but seriously, you are right!

Ia, but feel like they’ll just find a secret workaround instead of attempting to, like, write a research paper to convince them

They are also stupid though, and give themselves away.

i understand not providing 24/7 access to social media, but i think a complete ban on them also delays their ability to develop some skills on how to navigate it (e.g., misinformation, reducing screen usage, etc.).

For navigating misinformation, I would make them do the practice of actually looking up articles and doing actual citations from credited and researched papers and etc. I hated writing essays in college and high school, but the old school way of actually citing the materials of where you got your references for thesis papers and the like has taught me to sift through the BS online.

I have to ask my parents to do the same thing! Maybe it’s our generation…! I’m fortunate to have had socials when it wasn’t as toxic yet or thay we were more savvy? I can’t tell

It’s definitely a millennial and generation X thing…our parents had encyclopedias so that was the only citation they had to reference from…for us we had both the internet and books.

I remember back in 10th grade, my English teacher wanted us to double or triple citate if we were referencing from an online source since online was (and still is) an unreliable source.
