Kelly Clarkson Says Her Kids Cannot "Ever Have" Social Media While Living With Her https://t.co/MZKfM2bKHE - The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) January 6, 2024
It must be so hard to navigate. A friend of mine, her son is 13, and he’s been sucked into the online manosphere and just parrots back all the ridiculous talking points
thank god my 13 y/o niece isn't growing up super fast. her tiktok likes are filled with nothing but fnaf and sonic edits. my sister does have to keep her from looking into fanart though. because of nsfw and all that. luckily, she's been shielded so far.
I don't even care about that. I watch the 24/7 ability to harass and bully kids/teens in school. We had a 12+ hour break from our bullys, they have 24/7 access to each other and can't catch a break. They have igs that showcase fights at each school, they have them dedicated to horrible pictures of kids sleeping and eating, of shaming. Social media is something no teenager needs and if a parent wants to let their 16 year old have it, then check their phone randomly, don't let them take it in their bedrooms, follow their socials, have their passwords
SAME. I absolutely hate it. I was thrilled my sister put a rule of 'if you can't do it in front of us you shouldn't be doing it' for her kids and their phones. Kept them all (so far) away from stupid stuff. But man the fact that kids can be shamed and bullied 24/7 kills me
My son has to keep his socials logged in on my phone so I can always see what he's doing. I've stopped so many bad things that were about to happen by doing this. He says it's creepy, but he's the one who almost started messaging an obvious catfishing perv.
First I am sorry your son almost made that mistake but so happy you were able to catch it. Secondly, as an educator I LOVE parents like you and am so freaking thrilled whenever a parent is on their kid on their phone/social media etc. We need more of you

I would simply stop feeding any child parroting misogyny at me.

Mostly joking, but I would absolutely make the kid do more for himself

I shiver when I think about what it would be like it my 8th grade bully had been able to weaponize social media at me. These poor kids.
