I would have really loved if Oliver actually had sex with everyone. Give him true obsession and motivation that leads to destruction, not just being a casual empty menace.

There's a better film that does that already:

And young Terence Stamp is far more attractive.

But he wasn’t as rich so he just wanted to exterminate the rich folks or something? Bad movie!!!!

Its unforgivable for me if a movie is that long and ultimately has no concrete things to say. I probably hate PYW more because its so out of touch and hollow, but Saltburn was a worse experience with how impressive it seemed to think it was, when its just derivative.

my takeaway was that he’s an unreliable narrator and was obsessed with felix from the beginning, and he would do and say whatever he needed to take whatever he could get[Spoiler (click to open)] like how he lied about his dad’s death when felix was annoyed with him/seemed like he was getting ‘bored’ of oliver to keep him from leaving, having sex with felix’s sister and cousin while also spying on felix having sex/jerking off. i don’t think he actually really set out to steal the castle from the beginning. but the third act and ending reveal montage is so messy it doesn’t really matter lol the movie doesn’t say what it thinks it’s trying to say

That's exactly how i feel about the movie
It started as one movie and turned into something completely new in the end
The whole movie was built up on his obsession with Felix and then he didn't even matter to him? What was i watching for two hours before the twist, then?
What was the point of him creeping out on Felix if it's not moving the plot in any way? Just for edgy point, it seems.
People warned before in another post, and i should've listened to their advice lol

I don’t think he had feeling for Felix but more of Jay Gatsby/Daisy Buchanan situation. He’s more obsessed/in love with what Felix represent (i.e his upper class status) than Felix the person.

He wanted entry into elite upper class that they came from. Oliver is someone who was not content enough with his comfortable middle class life. He’s ashamed of background. His problem is he wanted more and feels he should be entitled to Saltburn which is why he has his victory dance at the end.

It’s not really “eat the rich” but more “fuck I want in, and I will do anything to”.
