So many thoughts but it frustrates me to no end when they pull the timeline card. Maybe they didn’t fully process the assault??? Or maybe they (sadly, because women are conditioned to just accept things) didn’t realize it was assault???

Exactly this. At the moment you may not realize what actually happened until you reflect on it.

In 6th grade this kid poked my butt when I was walking and I didn't think anything or it. Many years later I realized how wrong that was of him.

Ugh, I am so sorry. It’s honestly so disheartening how many of us have dealt with sexual assault early on. There’s such a fine line between that and curiosity and it really needs to be dealt with in our formative years but of course society leans more towards the “boys will be boys” narrative. Feels like such a different convo that I’m not well versed in but I stand by it!

ETA: I didn’t mean to say that only boys can be guilty of assault early on, just talking from experience.

Thank you ❤️.

No worries, I knew what you meant. Yeah it's like a kid being mean to the girl he likes but really is only a jerk.

Yeah from the beginning if kids knew boundaries are to be respected and how both have the right to express their discomfort.

I may flirt but unless I tell you a yes don't take that mean you can touch me without permission.

I don't understand what goes through mens heads to convince them this behavior is okay. Honestly.

It's true. I found a truly horrifying thread on reddit once, where a bunch of dudes were bonding over how thrilling they found it to follow girls closely when they're walking home and observe how visibly scared they get. They considered this a victimless crime because "they would never actually do anything", but I'm like "...what happens when just doing that doesn't give you a thrill anymore?"

It really fucked me up and opened my eyes as to how the men who engage in this type of behaviour operate. It probably incrementally escalates in habits until you're the dude assaulting an assistant in a hotel room.

Not even whether they would ever do anything (and I’ve no doubt that men who found scaring a woman a thrill would escalate), but how is it a victimless crime when you are terrifying a woman?

The ways men suck are just infinite.

Walker? "Dated" a 16-year-old while he was a full grown 30-year-old man.
