1999 freshman year her song how do I deal was on the juke box in our lunch room and that was the most played song that year. Like I still smell French fries when I hear it. I root for her forever.

Your school lunch room had a juke box?

It did and it was fifty cents a song and we would be dicks and use the bathroom right before lunch to go load a 10 song queue of this and crush by Jennifer paige..

Ok, but How Do I Deal is definitely one of my top 5 "guilty" pleasure songs of all time. It's still in rotation at least once a week and every time it comes on I have to pause to mime the chorus like the angsty teenage girl I'll always be in my soul.

I still have barenaked in rotation but i think it’s bc my cousin used to play it all the time so i think it’s just nostalgia

I forgot about this one! Now I'm going to add it to my regular playlist because listening to it now makes me feel like I need too. She should have put more into followed a musical path, clearly.

It's so brutal to be a Hollywood actress because they get really famous and get all the work really young and then get tossed aside and people are so NASTY because they don't look like the little girl/young women versions of themselves.

Mischa Barton gets that a lot too and it's so sad because she had an eating disorder on the O.C.

She looks great. People are so freaking weird.

I definitely thought she was older than she is. Nothing to do with looks but I guess because she’s been around so long. She’s only 2 years older than me, but I guess when you’re younger, a 2 year age difference can feel so big.

This is a mix of effects of being a child star AND growing up as a woman in the industry from a young age.

I remember when the actors from EEAOO were doing promo, Ke and Jamie were on one of the sirius radio shows and Ke was talking about his time in the industry as a child and then not working for a while and then having this comeback success. Jamie highlighted how hard psychologically and emotionally it must be for people to mostly associate you from the work you did as a kid compared to when your adult and only seeing you as that child/teen.
