i'm surprised/impressed with celeb kids like Suri - in the age of social media, no impulsive posts about her dad and she keeps a low profile.

Same for the Jolie-Pitt kids staying so private.

Obviously they're free to do what they want, i just would expect most teens to overshare on social media at some point.

she was in batman begins, one of the biggest movies of the year, and then she met tom and decided not to do the dark knight. she's not the best actress but she could've had a decent career.

i watched her covid movie. it was alright but completely unrealistic. like how did she fit all the 15 sweaters she wore in a weekender? 🙄

It's probably 2 things.
First and foremost, women always lose. Hollywood probably was too scared of hiring her, as of course she was to be blamed for the divorce...

But also, she seems like a great Mom, so I believe that running from the spotlight could've been her away or protecting Suri.

Nicole Kidman seemed to flourish after her divorce from Tom, though she's a better actress and I think she had a better career before the divorce than Katie.

Eta: I guess Tom and the cult could harbor some pettiness against Katie since she managed to get away with Suri, unlike Nicole whose kids remained in the cult.

Transitioning from teen tv star to movie star, even in the late 90s, early 00s was difficult. A breakout WB/UPN star transitioning from tv star to legit movie icon was always the exception instead of the rule

I maybe forgetting some but I feel like Michelle Williams is the only one of that 90s era group of actors who got their big break in a teen drama to have acclaimed success.

Cause Neve Campbell and Sarah Michelle Gellar had financial box offices and popular series but neither managed to escape that teen-horror genre.

I agree but I also wonder how much their tv shows actually held them back. Because during their prime popularity - they were on massive tv shows that lasted years and only had a couple of months in the summer for any other projects. Smg fared best b/c she had IKWYDLS, scream 2, Cruel Intentions and Scooby Doo 1/2.

Again I think SMG was originally best positioned for this but I also read (if true), that she had to turn down big roles like Fight Club, Gangs of New York, etc.

I know it’s more complicated (and SMG did pick bad projects post Buffy) But it could also be chicken / egg lol. She got those huge movie hits because she was an icon on Buffy but at the same time couldn’t capitalize on all the movie roles offered to her because of Buffy lol

Hmm not totally cause The Grudge was a hit but I think 2 things. 1.) One she possibly got pigeon-holed in the horror genre with shut her out of other considerations. 2.) I think we she got married her priorities changed and I've heard that both her and Freddie put the marriage first above all things so I imagine on both sides having to turn down maybe good stuff for that sake.

They married young at 25 and 26 which is usually the time to be hustling and grinding in Hollywood but maybe they're having the last laugh cause many celebrated actors lacks the tranquil home-life so who knows.
