Twelve years ago, you badgered Dan Didio into allowing more women into DC Comics.

Most women don't know how to write comics for its primarily male audience. They believe male power fantasies are sexist and stupid, and their attempts to write Superhero comics reflected that.… https://t.co/xUity0obGk

Lol he’s so pathetic. I love watching someone slowly realize their own uselessness and then claw back, screaming misogyny as a response.

It's amazing how men spout this shit without realising what an absolute indictment of their gender it would be if true. (See also the claims that men are so helpless to their hormones they can be manipulated by anything in a skirt)

Women actually love comics though? I don't feel like superpowers are the barrier. Bc tons of women read manga and webcomics with characters that essentially have superpowers.

See, the problem is that you’re approaching this with reason and logic. These men don’t care about that stuff. They only want their fantasy stories to reflect their ideal fantasies, which unfortunately involve women being accessories and subservient to men.

seriously. even so-called shounen (boys') comics have a fairly even split of male/female readers, both in Japan and beyond. the business model for manga is just better. by releasing chapters in magazines first, you allow popular series to bolster new series and attract fans, and there aren't a million cross-overs and cancellations and reboots.

i got really into captain marvel for a hot second a decade ago, but i went from one chapter to the next and had absolutely no idea what was going on, because there'd basically been a whole-ass chapter that had happened in another series because there was a crossover event. and that was already after having to try to piece together what her background was from before that particular run had started. and then it got cancelled, but they started a whole new captain marvel run like immediately after??? it just felt like WORK to be a fan.
