Bob Iger blames The Marvels box office failure on being to free BTS

Bob Iger blames the underperformance of ‘THE MARVELS’ on the large volume of content making it difficult for execs to supervise.

“‘The Marvels’ was shot during COVID, and there wasn't enough supervision on set [from execs]”

The answer is incels, Robert. Love & Thunder and Quantumania were straight trash compared to The Marvels and got a fraction of the criticism. Bye

Nah I don’t think it’s productive to blame this particular movie flopping on “incels”. It was sort of set up to fail and the interest in the franchise is waning fast, plus there were few recognizable characters there and the marketing was nonexistent.

right, incels just aren't that powerful. lots of movies they hate are successful and some they hate are bound to flop

Wasn't the audience mostly men as well and basically no one young and very few women saw it? Those stats are very telling and indicate a franchise/Marvel issue more than "incels."

Just a few months ago, he said the company would lay low and stay out of the press. How’s that working out for ya, Bob?

He just likes to hear himself talk at this point.

there’s probably a lot of people waiting for it to hit disney+ (hi it’s me). going to the theater isn’t fun anymore for lots of people and covid is still a thing. plus why go to a theater and pay crazy money and be around annoying people when you can just wait a few months for it to stream from the comfort of your own home?? also superhero fatigue is real. this movie was setup to fail.

yup. I have been to the movie theaters once in six years. It's partially covid, but partially also, why go out, spend a ton of money only to have to share my space with the unwashed masses when I have a really nice big tv at home and I can pause it when I have to pee and I don't have to wear pants but I can do dabs off my giant bong

in comparison spending 8 dollars on a diet coke feels downright barbaric

Do people still go to movie theaters? I went to the hunger games prequel and besides two dudes nobody was there.

Yeah, the last time I saw a movie in a theater was for Barbie and the theater experience was really bad + ridiculously expensive. I'd much rather watch a movie at home.
