Bob Iger blames The Marvels box office failure on being to free BTS

Bob Iger blames the underperformance of ‘THE MARVELS’ on the large volume of content making it difficult for execs to supervise.

“‘The Marvels’ was shot during COVID, and there wasn't enough supervision on set [from execs]”

"executive oversight" is exactly why no one gives a fuck about the mcu at the point. it's bland af and aimless

lol does this even make any sense? people I think just weren't interested, we might be reaching actual saturation point with the MCU. I mean I really enjoyed it at one point (circa Winter Soldier) but I haven't seen one since Endgame and even getting that far felt like a slog. It's kind of unfortunate because I love big ambitious universes that are shared and in a world with better writing for these films Endgame would have and should have felt like an amazing climax that was all the more satisfying for the years and years it took to pay off

instead it kind of felt like doing chores. there's only so many times I can sit through what is essentially and structurally the same movie over and over again. I think if the MCU had more variety in the way the films were made and the stories were told it would have helped tremendously but they all feel very cookie cutter

Exactly! Now that we’ve moved past the origin stories, it’s basically always the same plot. Only Guardians had something a tiny bit more to offer in terms of variety.

if you think more executive oversight is what's missing from current media, then good luck rescuing that corporation you speak of
