Paul Rudd on His “Very Restrictive” Diet When Preparing to Play Ant-Man

Nov 25, 2023 17:01

Paul Rudd says he had a “horrible” and “restrictive” diet for playing Ant-Man.

“My reward was sparkling water. That’s how horrible that diet was. I was like, ‘Alright, I can have some sparkling water now, I’ve earned it.’”

I became tired of Paul Rudd right as his career started blowing up. I don't dislike him necessarily, but I feel like I had just had enough Paul Rudd and then he did "Knocked up" and was everywhere.

That’s funny because I don’t really ever remember him “blowing up” lol

Really? I feel like he was the go-to comedy guy for quite a while after Knocked up.

This is the part they don't tell you - you can control what you eat and how you move, but at the end of the day your body is going to decide what goes where and it is not going to consult you or your carefully planned gym regime about it lol.

It’s true. I noticed this especially after having a kid - at one point, I was intermittent fasting, a protein shake (those <200 calorie ones) for lunch, and dinners were usually a rice bowl with veggies and some protein. I gained weight.

You know what fucking helped? Fifth Disease for a week.

Did you experience joint swelling/arthritis symptoms when you got sick with that?

I'm glad he's honest. All the gym Instagrams have created some ideas that it's easy when it's either good genes or living on chicken breast.

Lmao. I have two mates who are fit beyond belief. Both live on chicken and rice and haven't tasted pizza in months. No thanks.

Reminds me of Mindy Kaling saying it takes a lot of effort to look like a "normal" chubby woman.
