I liked it overall. Though the depiction of Mohamed Al Fayed relentlessly badgering Dodi to woo Diana was a little much. He was starting to come across as a parental antagonist from a Hallmark movie. I also could have done without the visions/~ghosts~ of Dodi and Diana. Also, William never ran away after Diana's death. Basically, they didn't need to make a bunch of crap up. The reality was dramatic enough. But I liked the performances. They really made Elizabeth Debicki look just like Diana.

I thought the dad badgering him was realistic though. Coming from a similar background parents will keep bugging you until you do what they want. They don't let up.

The feeling was that William was really distancing himself from the family and the whole enterprise after her death, to the point where they were concerned he would reject his role, so maybe it was meant to represent that… like he walks off but comes back in the end.

Interesting, I read in Tina Brown’s Diana book that William really did run away, just briefly. According to her, Prince Philip said it on the phone while they were negotiating about the funeral. Apparently the government or the Spencers were trying to say a lot about what the boys should be doing and Philip burst in ‘Stop telling us what to do with those boys! They’ve lost their mother!… our only worry at the moment is William, he’s run away up the hill and we can’t find him. That’s the only thing we’re concerned with’

Where does the story denial come from?

Did part 2 come out??

I know people have said it’s lost its charm in the later years but I still enjoy the show. Elizabeth is a perfect Diana and I did tear up a bit.

I think we still have a few weeks until Part 2 comes out. Dec 14-ish?

I don't think I've watched since season 5, should I catch up?

Tobias truly was a highlight of S3 and S4.

Imo, is not that good anymore. S1 and S2 remain superior. The other ones have good performances and some good episodes but in general, the series has gone downhill.

If you haven't seen it, I suggest watching This Way Up.

I thought it was good overall. The previews to me make it look like it's going to end with Will's wedding. I think it should end with the queen's death since the show was basically about her.

Supposedly Dodi's father never called the paps on them but the show makes you feel like it's something that definitely could have happened. It's weird watching this as an adult cause I remember it all happening but I was 12. At the time I thought Dodi was like, her next big love, I didn't know they had only been hanging out for a few weeks. The whole situation is still so tragic.
