I saw Saltburn and really disliked it. I despised Promising Young Woman too. Emerald Fennell is a hack who seems to get off on being "shocking" for the sake of it while not actually saying anything of substance.

is anyone else immediately sus on movies where the director is also the star? I think the best thing about movies is how they are a collaborative process between creatives and that seems to skip an important step. if Cooper is directing himself in Maestro, who tells him to rein it the fuck in? and that the fake nose is a distraction at best and racist at worst? ugh

I haven’t seen anything over the last couple of days, but I’ve got plans to see Maestro, Napoleon and the new Hunger Games movie over the long weekend. Will have to get to The Boy and the Heron at some point, too. And I just got Hulu back, so I will watch Quiz Lady when I have the chance.

I’ve heard good things about American Symphony and Smoke Sauna Sisterhood.
