The Take examines how sixth grade teacher Mary Kay Letourneau's grooming and abuse of her student inspired the Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore film May December.
They also dive into the harmful "male student has an "affair" with the hot teacher" trope in society and media, and how the trope puts the blame on the victim.

Too real. I've had the experience with male friends sharing their sexual abuse but playing it off as a joke or something they wanted and it breaks my heart.

I was a small child when this was happening but looking back this was the first time I saw 'white woman victimhood.' A memory I have is being a small child and some news show talking about how this pedophile was legit 'too pretty and frail' to go to jail. I wonder how things would've been just a bit different had Vili been white as well and the hyper sexual tripe of ethnic children not been at play as well.

The fact that she talked in a baby voice and was a "nice" white woman made the media infantalize her. Meanwhile, because Vili Fualaau was Samoan he was "aged up".
It was revolting.

I remember when debra lafave arrest happen and people were losing their minds at how hot she was to the point it was her defense. that she was too pretty to go to jail and it worked. she got a plea deal of no jail time and just did a bit of house arrest.

I still remember watching a special (maybe Barbara Walters) when their daughters were young, maybe about pre-teen age. And the girls were looking through a book or something and one quipped "Look, mommy and daddy's love isn't illegal here" (paraphrased, obviously). It was so disturbing to me that these girls had so clearly been taught that it was acceptable. I could not believe they aired that completely uncritically.
