32x7: Music Video Night The eight remaining couples prepare for an electrifying night as they perform dances to songs behind the most iconic music videos; guest judge Paula Abdul.
Looking forward to Alyson Hannigan being eliminated
Edited now I watched it. The theme was a fun idea. Annoyingly Alyson wasn't that bad this week. Lele wasn't bad but she never seemed to improve over the weeks. Even Harry has improved a bit, but honestly props to his partner because she's working miracles to make him look as decent as he does.
When Harry threw Charity in the group dance, for a split second I thought he was also supposed to catch her and I was genuinely scared for her life.
I liked Ariana the best this week. Xochitl's dance was kind of messy. Charity wasn't good. I don't think Barry needed to do the quickstep quite that slowly? It was like it was hard for him to keep in time. I hope I never have to hear Hollaback Girl again in my life.
Alyson was the biggest surprise of the night. She started out the actual dancing portion of her performance pretty strong. It fizzled out by the end, but she still showed a decent amount of improvement during the first half.
Charity looked gangly and awkward doing that choreography which was disappointing because I wanted a kickass Janet Jackson performance. I don't know how much of it is that she doesn't know how to make her movements sharp/powerful and how much of it was the actual choreography, but if you watch the other dancers you can see a huge difference in their movements versus hers.
The #1 all time best thing about this week's episode was that every dance used the original version of the music. No shitty covers for a whole week!!!! That's enough of a reason for me to like music video week.
If they do this theme again, they should just dispense with the ballroom for the week and assign everyone jazz so they can just do the music video aspect without trying to cram in ballroom too. It seemed unfair that half of the dancers got to just do whatever they wanted to recreate the videos while the other half had a lot more content constraints.
High five to Daniella for giving Jason an actual jazz routine instead of a mishmash of ballroom lite (which is often what we get stuck with for jazz routines).
I generally like Artem, but that was really weak/lame choreography for a Janet Jackson jazz routine.
Pasha was smart enough to know that you can't do a routine to I'm a Slave 4 U without including some of the iconic choreography!
Brandon did a decent job incorporating some Shakira moves into a salsa routine.
I thought the same about Jason in that routine but then I don't remember thinking he was that bad at the other Latin routines he's done before? and he did rumba early on which is easy to look terrible doing
I love Barry, but he flopped last night. That was just not his dance. I didn't understand the over the top praise for Harry during the group dance. He's terrible and 1 min of doing a trendy dance that like every young person was doing a few years ago, wasn't impressive to me. Alyson is actually improving. Ariana did great and poor Xochitl had an off night, but was still better than most.
This is my first season, so I don't know how many people make it to to the finals, but except for Harry, I don't want anyone else to go home. Everyone aside from Harry is so fun to watch and they seem like a fun group. I hate Harry.
