I absolutely want more romcoms (especially mid budget) and I'm glad to see our romcom queens are back/there's more later in life romcoms, but I think I'd also really like to see some fresh-never-frozen faces and a little more diversity in casting and storytelling. I actually just watched Rye Lane on hulu and it was a delight!

I'm also hoping we can also have more happy queer romcoms (no cheating or hate crimes or sad endings) that AREN'T set in high school and are above Hallmark level quality - obviously those can exist too I just want more content in general. It's a bit older but I highly recommend Big Eden if you can find it anywhere. I never see that one on anyone's lists but it's so sweet and healing.

this movie was so damn weird.
It's like a disney fairy tail live action film.
NOOOTHING was realistic, hah. All those small town mountain people would NOT be giddy about getting 2 gays together.

Also, the world that they create in this movie seems to show how accepting people are to gays, but the white leads former love of his life (the divorced father), doesn't want to be gay because he's sort of embarrassed/ashamed. When they were making out, he stops and is like " i cant..."

And at the end of the movie, they show him smiling at a new woman, so i guess he'll have a happy ending. A repressed homosexuality happy ending.

But it was cute i guess.

/random thoughts.

I liked the unrealistic aspect, that's part of the romcom manual. Nowhere has cute small town neighbors or even friends getting them together, that's purely fiction but also very fun. But then again my coworkers absolutely do not get homosexuality, but they're nosey and match-makey enough that they'll at least get excited and try and inquire any time I mention a woman I might be interested in - though they stop short of trying to devise situations to get us together. Just every time we chat outside of work they ask about my love life and "that girl (you) talked about" and they've even asked to see photos. They're trying at least ( ... )

I saw SHE CAME TO ME in theaters. My commitments to romcoms are real and so I will also see this, even though based on the trailer Duchovny seems miscast.

Did you like it? It's interesting how critics seem to generally think it's not great but it has a decent audience rating on RT.

Omg. I have to go there for work next month and I’ve been dreading it. But, hey, now I can force my brain to be like “MAYBE MEG RYAN STOOD IN THIS EXACT SPOT AT THE AIRPORT/MUSEUM.”

While I usually couldn’t care less about where celebs have been, at least it’s SOMETHING. I still refuse to go to the Walmart museum, though. It looks so boring and who gives a flying ass about Walmart.
