“ I don't want to see this with an English dub in the theater”

You don’t have to, GKids has always released subtitled versions in theaters along with the dubs.

I worry it'll be too late but this is the widest release of any Ghibli movie that I know of, so hopefully not.

They confirmed in the comments here that the Japanese version will also be in theaters.

Christian Bale as Howl will forever be the sexiest English dub.

If he's not playing a hot zaddy in this, I will BOYCOTT.

Of all the Japanese to English dubs out in the world, the casting for Ghibli movies seems to really get it right every time. Christian Bale as Howl was perfection.

was totally gonna say about Christian!

and I actually don't mind most of the English dubs that have come out. The only one that grated on me was Ponyo. It just felt like little kids yelling.

Well that’s because that film is mainly little kids yelling, heh.

I'll be watching both dubbed and subbed. I always ALWAYS prefer subbed but for Rob I'll watch the lesser version

I actually really like dubs for Ghibli. The direction they do just works for me and it's so different to usual anime voice dubbing. Everyone speaks softer and more whimsical, it's hard to explain haha.

Same tbh, I didn't even mind it for Ponyo which felt like stunt casting with Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas (every time I watch Claim to Fame I always call him Sosuke in my head lol). The way Ponyo says "HAM" lives rent free in my head.

Yeah, the dubbed version of Princess Mononoke is really good. I don’t think I’ve even seen it in Japanese. I thought all the voices worked well (fun fact, the English script was done by Neil Gaiman).

Miyazaki was a big fan of The Batman, so Pattinson's casting is no surprise. Using two Batman's for this is fun, tho.
