That's funny because I read somewhere that the only Beatle you could trust (in terms of remembering thing correctly) was George. I think a biographer said it, can't remember who. He said that John was dead, Ringo didn't remember a thing and Paul always changed the stories, so George was the only one that could be relied on. I don't know if it's true or not, but that quote stuck with me.
I just read the whole thing. And I have no musical talent whatsoever (I'm tone-deaf at best) and holy shit, I have that as well! I think it's just a subconscious method I grew up with. You relate things to certain other things and when you try to remember a certain event, it triggers a whole other thing alongside the original memory. Then your friends look at you like "I told you this shit 10 years ago! How did you remember THAT?" I think it's easier to do it when you pay attention to certain things or people.
