I think it takes a very specific role (and director) for Natalie to shine as an actress because often times for me she just falls flat.

I was just rewatching Annihilation last night and thinking how much I love Natalie, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. And how many of her roles are "duplicate" - Annihilation, Black Swan, and to lesser extents Closer, Vox Lux and Love & Thunder.

i just watched annihilation last night, too! i felt like all of the characters were really well-cast. there was something about jennifer jason leigh's voice, so clipped and almost deadpan. even gina rodriguez played that psychological descent well
