It is very heartening to have this be the result of these shows' bullshit.

I was worried that this was going to lead to more productions starting back up again, undermining everything about these strikes.

why is the View spare from the controversy?
and i would expect a least Whoopi would not be back to support the strike but she always been kind of awful.

IIRC The View falls under the news division and they’re under the same contract as the daytime soaps but they do employ WGA writers. Before their summer hiatus, Whoopi would acknowledge the strike at the start of the show but since their return, they haven’t been doing that and they have notes written on cue cards they’re heavily relying on 🥴

I'm confused by that cause a twitter thread in another post had a PSA schedule of whose getting picketed by the strikers and The View's location was on there. The guy who made the thread says they've been picketing them all summer.

Lol Drew became the face of this which resulted in the other shows receiving less heat but now that she backed down they said "!!!" and backed down too.

Hmm now makes me think the theories of CBS threatening them were possibly~ true cause Drew and The Talk are on the same channel I think. Jennifer's show isn't but I guess her studio were following CBS to see how it would turn out.

I wonder how different it might've turned out if Drew had not put out statements cause The View being getting picketed but publicly hasn't been dragged.

if you read between the lines of what she was saying in that video response it seems like that was exactly what was going on. she said something to the effect of I'm not gonna blame the network, managers, etc. I'll take responsibility, but like obviously she wasn't trying to say it. even tho drew is the bigger star, I doubt she has as much clout as kelly clarkson for her show specifically since it's kinda just barely doing ok. she put her foot down now cuz she saw this would affect her beyond her show even if the network was threatening a premature cancellation.

I imagine she's got more clout than Kelly, Drew is a BARRYMORE! Plus I don't know if true but I heard Kelly is paying her staff so again not looking good on Drew.

I'm guessing Drew was not allowed to say it was the network that put her in the corner? Are they legally not allowed to talk for now?

I say that cuz kelly's show is solidified. I think it would be a loss to the network to lose her show whereas drew's is a fledgling show with middling ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends cancelled next year, but like obviously she was trying to play ball. if studio/network heads let what we actually heard from them become public I can only imagine what they were doing/saying behind the scenes.
