There's just something so misogynistic about the entire premise of this book/show.

I'm reading the book now and it's like very..."Pretty woman is smart and her daughter is pretty and smart and they're smarter and better than everybody but they've experienced tragedy, OK?!"

It just seems like it's a very specific dig on the fact that the first woman to actually do these things was not a tiny pretty blonde but 6'2" Julia Child.

Woman who actually did it:

God. The way this book haunts me.
Only book that haunts me more due to its unreasonable popularity is A Little Life.

The thing is the protagonist, Elizabeth, wasn’t even unlikeable, but the way the author wrote her, CLEARLY thinking she is Elizabeth, esp when you read about the author and the name of her dog - it’s just such like not other girls energy. Reality is Elizabeth was not like other girls in a good way but the way the author sees herself as not like the other girls is in such a pretentious way. Guys I’m a scientist! I give my dogs quirky names! Im special!

Also Lewis Pullman isn’t talk enough to be Calvin that was his main character trait - not hot, but smart and tall lol

I liked A Little Life, but i also read it when it came out, not because of BookTok. I feel like i deserve some brownie points.

Says a lot about BookTok for liking this book no wonder I don’t trust those people.

I was gonna include some brownie emojis for the points but wtf no brownie emoji?!

Was this one of those fanfic-to-book adaptations?

I've heard the main guy based off Adam Driver, I think she even mentions him in the acknowledgements. I wonder if she tried to get him as cast as that character lol

wait, I just realized I'm thinking of a different book! I'm thinking of The Love Hypothesis, which is also a chemistry one! Ignore me, I have no idea about Lessons in Chemistry!

The Love Hypothesis is also apparently a movie??

Oh man, I read The Love Hypothesis. It was very much a former Reylo fic and very much fucking horrible.
