• After the news that Barrymore would resume hosting her show without her WGA writers, numerous novelists expressed anger that she was chosen to host an event

This is honestly a shame. I watched some of the clips of her show, and there were some really nice moments where she connected with her guests. She was cultivating a nice reputation as one of the more sincere celebs out there. Who would have thought she'd be heedless enough to throw it all away so carelessly?

yeah i'm having a very hard time understanding this move. i felt like she was thought of as one of the more kind celebrities and she seems to generally (definitely not always) make decent decisions so im kinda baffled by this

Never underestimate the size of celebrity ego, especially one with multiple generations of nepo behind her

i'm hoping it was something where she was threatened that she'd be in breach of contract if she didn't show up, and she plans to address it when she's there and like just not host or something in silent protest lol. That's the only way i can see her saving face after this.
