Ashley Ellerin was killed by serial killer Michael Gargiulo on February 21 2001, that fact is not in doubt, they have his DNA

Also too, if you're dating someone and you were supposed to meet up on that day explaining your fingerprints on a doorknob or potentially anywhere else in the house is easy. Knowing he didn't kill her, knowing his prints likely wouldn't have been on the knife, and knowing his DNA wouldn't have been found with her body - it should have been a no brainer to call the cops no matter the level of shock.

The fact he apparently had the thought to be on the phone FOR AN HOUR to people other than the cops just speaks to how much he was thinking of himself which is its own level of grotesque

authorities have found countless people guilty on circumstantial evidence alone so it's really not that outlandish to think that they could have decided to prosecute him on little evidence they had. he was dating her and he discovered her body. prosecutors have had field days with far less.

As a youtube commenter pointed out, it's also stupid cause even if it's just wine, just make sure your girlfriend isn't having eg. some medical issue or something. Or if you see blood, there might still be a point in, you know, trying to call an ambulance etc.
