Even if these vloggers aren’t abusive or questionable, which is not often the case, the kids have no say whether they want their lives, their childhoods plastered all over the internet where it will live forever

Part of the issue is that the kids' lives are commodified and the constant need to create more and more content.

It reminds me of the Kardashians and how much time the kids spend being part of the content.

imo that in and of itself is abuse

I'm glad that she and the business partner were arrested.

Um duct taping kids and making them sleep on the floor for months?! :(

So the story about the sleeping on the floor thing is actually so much worse ( ... )

That poor boy and all the kids. That's just horrorific. I hope they can be placed with some caring people and get counseling/help from social workers. :(

This is all so cruel and disturbing.

I hope the kids have some other family member that can step up and care for them because even if their dad wasn't arrested... was he complicit? idk.

I saw someone saying he was arrested, but it was in a different county, because he and Ruby split last year. Dunno if that's true.

I’m surprised he wasn’t arrested too, unless he didn’t live in the home. Or if they are still gathering evidence, and I’m sure more will come out, and he’ll gets charges too.

Yeah I’m confused how the husband would not be culpable unless they were split up?

I don't trust family vloggers at allll. There is something deeply unsettling about the thought of children growing up only knowing what their parents look like behind a camera and having to play up every little thing for views. Everything is so amplified it's unhealthy.

Anyway let's not even begin to talk about safety concerns...

I just always think - you're not giving your kid a chance to grow up and decide how they want to present themselves to the world before it's way too late, and everybody already has the permanent "kid" image in their head. It's hard enough for child actors who don't spend every waking moment of their actual lives on screen to get away from that image of themselves. Never mind a bunch of prospective friends, partners, employers who can just Google your childhood tantrums any time they feel like

Yeah I couldn't get all of my thoughts into a coherent message at all. There are just so many things that are truly despicable about this whole concept and new ones keep popping up into my head. This post could go on for 30 pages and we'd still be uncovering new things that will damage these kids for life.
