Even if these vloggers aren’t abusive or questionable, which is not often the case, the kids have no say whether they want their lives, their childhoods plastered all over the internet where it will live forever

Part of the issue is that the kids' lives are commodified and the constant need to create more and more content.

It reminds me of the Kardashians and how much time the kids spend being part of the content.

I like how when Japanese celebs post about their kids, they hide their faces with emoji. Idk what the legal framework for it is because not all of them do it, so maybe it's not mandatory, but the point is that being forced to hide a minor's face behind an ugly emoji sort of defeats the purpose of posting about a kid in the first place. The practice should be adopted elsewhere tbh

I saw an American YouTuber who started to blur out her kids’ faces after years of showing them on her channel. And her viewers were outraged; demanding to see the children. Claiming she’d made them emotionally invested and was now denying them.

I remember hearing about this via Twitter. Some woman who’s absolutely certifiable made a ducking TikTok about how that woman was keeping her kids off and how the TikToker “wanted to see her babies”. Whose babies?? YIKES.

Fully agreed. Best case scenario it's flagrant child exploitation and most of the families who do it are far from best case.

There needs to be strikter child protective laws regulating how children are used in monetized content.
I know the Eu was looking into it at some point
