I can only half relate, because my metabolism has been shit at any age. 😭

"I missed three meals"

Erm you mean you basically starved yourself. That only works once or twice before you fuck up your metabolism.

I’m not trying to discount her experience but from conversations with my physician and dietitian friends the scary stories about your metabolism grossly slowing down after you’re 30 and then 40 are greatly exaggerated. It’s minimal.

I think they also refer to muscle mass, which does drop after 30
I think it's like between 3-8% per decade after 30

Yup that’s true and maintaining that is much harder. But I was talking about metabolism specifically.

Well your whole metabolism does slow down with age, your body doesn't regenerate the same
Broken bones don't heal as fast
The real drop is at 60 though not 30

Actors and actresses gaining or losing a lot of weight for a role shouldn't be a thing. Fat-suits definitely shouldn't, either.

i hate how so often it seems to be an actor's vehicle for an Oscar nom. So many films like this

You know what, that’s totally fair. I’m 36 and I was just thinking about how if I were in my 20s, my shift to M-F 1hr cardio and now weight training would have slimmed me down drastically, but it’s really been slow. Not bad, I have lost weight this year and am below my pre-pandemic weight, but I know if I were 25, working out every weekday, and not keeping bread in the house, I’d barely recognize myself after a few months. Oh well.

Work stress probably isn’t helping either.
