i did an accidental theme of movies with female first names as titles last weekend lol: emily (2022) and carmen (2023). i think i would have enjoyed the former more if it wasn't about emily bronte, because the overall moody/spooky aura of the film was fun but the genre of "invent a heterosexual romance to make a female author's life more marketable" is frustrating. i'm not even asking for 100% accuracy in period drama, just not reliance on such a blah trope.

this weekend, another single name title lined up: i got a ticket to see oppenheimer in imax for saturday night. the combo breaker might be red white & royal blue, if i have time to check it out tomorrow.

both past lives & how to blow up a pipeline premiered in the arthouse cinema here this week so i saw those

past lives was beautiful but very depressing, it hit too close to home for me in certain ways and left me feeling very empty but in a sort of good way? gorgeous film

and how to blow up a pipeline easily is one of the best i’ve seen this year. SO tense and SO well made. i loved every second of it and was sent into a existential crisis immediately

I was excited about Red White and Royal Blue because my basic bitch self loved the book. I'm sorry, its cheesy romcoms, or Sci fi and fantasy. Literally no middleground.

But I've read they cut out June entirely.. how does that even work?! His sister, and the scenario's she ended up in with the book. Makes no sense.
