ive been hybrid for alomst a year now. Three days in the office.
I never expected fully remote to take off permantly. Yes, some sectors will get it but it will be the minority. Real estate interests, the banks and idiotic mayors (talking about you Eric Adams) will ensure that offices are not fully empty.
I only looked for remote jobs when I was hunting this year and the competition was FIERCE. At a senior level! Everyone is truly over the office and these companies have no idea the level of talent they are missing out on by stubbornly sticking to in-person.
I work remote after years of being in client facing jobs (sales associate, bank teller/manager, banker). I will be so mad when my new employer drags me back after the office remodel.
I miss working from home. I felt like I got so much more work done and was distracted less. I also felt like I was better at meal planning and general housekeeping. Now I feel like my weekends are cleaning and meal prepping. My work does allow WFH in bad weather or special circumstances, but I miss the days when we were hybrid.
I teach so yeah - I'll keep going into work, gladly. But I believe that at least 60% of jobs can be done from home with regular check-ins, but that would mean that employers would have to trust employees.
