looool no that's what the names in the acronym stand for but Metro was an existing company joined by Samuel Goldwyn and Louis B. Mayer.

I did not know Tony Goldwyn was descended from the MGM guy. He can’t control what the MGM did back in the day, and giving him shit because he’s doing the right thing is just dumb.

the funny thing is that sam goldwyn never even worked at mgm. his production company was acquired by metro prior to the merger that created mgm and they kept the name since goldwyn pictures signaled quality more so than the other components.

goldwyn was also pretty actor-friendly for a studio mogul. his thing was prestige projects and little-movies-that-could. (hence why you still see "samuel goldwyn productions" in the title card for indies and foreign imports.) he preferred to hire directors who were well-liked by actors and he frequently employed women who had "diva" reputations not tolerated elsewhere.

I didn't know Bellamy was with Kerry and Tony. The clickbait article I saw just says Scandal stars Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn reunion but I didn't click on it smh.

Internet activists were mad Tony Goldwyn was there because he's descended from the Goldwyn who was a part of MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer)

People had to inform them that Goldwyn died in the 1970s and his family doesn't own MGM anymore
