Exactly what I was about to say. The big actors should do the same and instead make donations to the fund.

It's going to be interesting to see actors decide between what they are allowed to do (waivers from the union) and moral "obligations".

Personally, I wish waivers wouldn't even exist.

Yeah idk on one hand it’s good that these companies complied with the demands (meaning big studios have excuse) BUT on the hand it does counterproductive and kinda shitty to be doing films when most are striking.

Plus it seems like it’s the more well-known actors who are getting jobs too. Especially when I think they are some of the ones who aren’t effected financially by the strike. I do feel for the behind the scenes people though :|

i agree - a lot of actors will be using the indie waivers and taking advantage of this loophole

what qualifies a production for a waiver?

Independently financed and meets SAG's compensation demands.

from indiewire article:

Since July 18, SAG-AFTRA has been providing select independent films with “interim agreements,” which allow them and the SAG-represented actors in them to continue production during the work stoppage. The main requirement for a waiver is that the film must be truly independent - with no ties to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents over 350 American and film production companies in their collective bargaining agreements with SAG.

for example: A24 does not belong to the AMPTP and they have agreed to the interim terms that SAG-AFTRA have put forth, so, they got two waivers for death of a unicorn and mother mary.
