After selling about 90% of my Barbie/Monster High/Ever After High collection during the first two years of the pandemic, I am finally getting back into collecting again. It feels good.
My favorite Barbie was my Baywatch Barbie. I took her everywhere and got a kick out of annoying my parents with the dolphin. Not Barbie, but my Peppermint Rose doll was a close second to BW Barbie.
atm my main focus is building up my Barbie collection again, but I agree! Those MH Collector dolls look amazing! 😍 If they ever make one of any of my favorite ghouls (Scarah Screams, Operetta, Elissabat), I would be in trouble.
I need to do some clearing out myself. Selling feels tempting but part of me just wants to sort them and put them all in a bin for Goodwill instead or just to give them away somehow. I'm an adult collector so they're all clean and well maintained and I kind've just want to clean house a bit.
I got one of the Barbies from the magazine for Christmas when I was a kid- the collectable Beauty and the Beast Broadway doll. I thought she was the most beautiful thing in the world so I never took her out of the box. I couldn't stand the idea of my sister or a friend or one of my sister's friends combing out her pretty ringlets. She's still there in my box of kid stuff.
Also, we moved every two years when I was little. I got a Cinderella barbie when I was 4 at my Christmas dance recital. Her head popped off and I'm honestly still not sure how this worked- we'd have her head but no body, then move, then we'd have her body and wouldn't be able to find her head, then move again, and we'd have her head again but no body. It was bizarre. We did manage to never lose her shoes, though...
